Volunteer Position
Reports to Music Committee
The Sound Room Ministry Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing a team of volunteers who run sound for services and events at Byfield Parish Church. This role encompasses the following duties:
Work in consultation with the sound room liaison of the Music Committee for recruiting and training volunteers to serve in the sound room.
Prepare and maintain a written schedule of who is responsible for running sound at all Sunday morning services and special events that involve the church body as a whole (i.e. evening services and concerts). Occasions such as weddings, funerals, and recitals should not be included in this schedule. (See the next point.) Ensure that an up-to-date copy of the schedule is posted in the sound room and distributed to all sound room volunteers and to the Music Committee.
Work directly with the Music Committee to authorize and oversee use of the sound room and sound equipment for events which do not involve the church body as a whole (i.e. weddings, recitals, etc.) Event needs will be considered & accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Arrange for an available sound team member to staff the booth when necessary for an event. Certain events such as weddings, may involve a stipend for the involved sound room staffer, but the coordinator must ensure the staffer understands that compensation is not guaranteed. The music committee is currently forming policies regarding a fee schedule.
Serve as a resource to assist sound room volunteers with questions and challenges that arise (i.e. scheduling conflicts, sound equipment usage and upkeep, reimbursement for authorized purchases related to the Sound Room Ministry).
Make recommendations directly to the Music Committee regarding the maintenance and/or purchase/installation/configuration of equipment and supplies for the sound room. Only the MC can authorize sound property purchases, or changes within the room.
Submit written reports to the Music Committee on a quarterly basis, or as requested by the Committee, which describe the activity, status, and needs of the Sound Room Ministry. Communicate regularly with the Music Committee liaison to the sound room regarding the state of the Ministry.
