If you have just asked Jesus Christ to come into your life, expressing saving faith in Him, you have just experienced “justification”. This is more or less a theological term used to define the reality of believing that only trust in Jesus Christ can grant eternal salvation with God. This is the first step in your relationship with God. What comes next is called “sanctification”. This is what happens on a daily basis as you grow in your faith in Jesus Christ. Every day we rely on Jesus. To strengthen our relationship with the Lord we need help. Spending time with Him is the only way to really get to know God and his ways, just as if you were trying to get to know another person. Reading the Bible and finding a Bible teaching church are the best ways to start. Lastly, talk to God regularly because He is a real person and His Name is Jesus Christ! The TrinityGod is three persons in One: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. As you grow in faith and knowledge of the Bible, the Trinity will become more and more clear. To be honest with you, this is part of the mystery of our faith. Our God is One God but with three distinct yet integrated natures. Who is Jesus ChristJesus Christ is the God-Man; the only and unique Son of God; He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; He is a Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace and Everlasting Father. These are just some of the names the Bible gives to Jesus. In these names, His character (or who He is) is explained. Because sin entered into the world through Adam and Eve, God became a man to provide a way for mankind to be restored to Him. Fully God yet fully Man at the same time, Jesus Christ was born of a woman. For thirty years He grew in His relationship with God the Father in much the same way as described above: Bible study, church, and prayer. When He was thirty years old, His teaching and preaching ministry began and lasted only three years. Do you know what happened in those three years? The entire trajectory of the universe was forever changed by one man, the God-Man. So universal was His impact that we actually even mark all time by His life and death (B.C. means Before Christ and A.D. stands for the time after His birth). The BibleThe stories of transformation that you have heard are all true stories of members of our congregation, regular people. Yet these stories tell of our history with Jesus Christ, the Living God. Something The Bible tells the history of the Jewish nation in relation to God. Gods history with the Jewish people included both rich and poor, healthy and sick, religious and non-religious. They were and we at Byfield are from all walks of life, but with one common thread among us all: all have sinned against God and we all need forgiveness from Him and restoration to Him. The benefits of this relationship in this life we have attempted to describe. Reading the Bible will inform you about what we call the Gospel which is the history of Jesus Christs life on earth. We suggest that you start reading one of the four Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. They all recount the similar events but from different perspectives. Matthew is told from a Judaic background; Mark is the shortest; Luke is a physician; John is more poetic and heartfelt. Make Sunday CountMore than anything else, you need to be fed spiritual food; we all do. Find a church that teaches the Bible, Jesus Christ, and how to live a life pleasing to God. There are many different ways to do this. Choose a way that is most comfortable for you: ask a family member or friend, visit some local congregations, go to the internet and read about what the church stands for, or get out your telephone book and make a few phone calls. This will be invaluable and being part of a faithful Christian community will bring many blessings. Set Free! Those whom the Son has set free are free indeed! This is a promise from God; not maybe but definitely true. God can and will set you free from the bondage of sin and He will love you like no other can. We must also tell you that Satan is real, too. He is the prince of this present age and does not want anyone to know the truth of God. As a matter of fact, Satan knows the Bible and the truth of God and understands that it will free us from sin and destruction. That is why he will try to pervert the truth and lead you astray; he tries to deceive all of us. This is why learning the Bible, church, and prayer are so important. They are not sacrifices you give to God, but gifts you give to yourself! God wants to bless you and He will use His Word (the Bible and church) to reveal Himself, His plan for good, and His love for you. Our Prayer for YouO Heavenly Father, we come to You in the Name of Jesus and we thank You for those that you have so graciously brought into Your kingdom. We pray over them now and ask for Your blessings of favor and protection over them. We pray that Your Holy Spirit would be upon them to lead and guide them into all truth. O Lord Jesus, only You know the hearts of these who have come and accepted You by faith. We ask that You would provide all that is necessary for growth in You, Lord. Provide each one with a measure of faith, a community of believers, and a desire to read and follow Your Word. You, Jesus, are our All in All. In You is everything that we need and we pray that You will minister life and healing to those who have come to You. We know that You have not and will not betray your children to the evil one. We bless Your Name and thank you for Your wondrous deeds. And now Lord, we pray for new and changed lives over those who come in Your Name. We pray for hope and freedom where once was despair and bondage. We pray for life where there was death. Glory to You, Lord Jesus Christ! Raise Your children to new life and use them in and for Your kingdoms sake. We pray over these who come in the only Name with power, Jesus Christ. Amen. Copyright © 1998-2008 Byfield
